On the 23rd of march 2015. The inauguration of NANS TURKISH ZONE took place at Girne American university GAU, the event which started at 7:00pm at the GAU conference hall had the attendance of students from various universities in North Cyprus such as EMU, GAU, NEU and the Nigerian societies Presidents of these Respective Universities,
A speech was delivered by Dr Kemjika Samuel of student affairs Department of University of technology Owerri. The topic tittled; THE ROLE OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS IN NATION BUILDING.
After his speech the newly appointed NANS TURKISH ZONE President introduces the invited guests; thereby calling on the President of NANS ASIA to deliver his speech. Moving forward with the chain of events , the former NANS Nigerian President took over the microphone to deliver his speech. He congractulated the newly appointed executives; hence forth urged Nigerian students in Diaspora to remain deligent and hardworking towards their studies .he illustrated his appreciation to the students for turning out regardless of the conference held on a week day.
At this point, the new secretary of NANS TURKISH ZONE insisted that the new shirts and a mask be distributed. Moreover, the shirts and Masks has photo prints of Jonathan’s face, which were brought by the NANS PRESIDENT from Nigeria with the name of the President of the federal republic of Nigeria written on the shirts to be distributed to the attendants of this historic event, on it was written "WITH JONATHAN I STAND, VOTE WISELY, POWERED BY NANS’’ this was the write up in front of the shirts distributed to students at the occasion together with the NANS logo on it, After a few seconds the students started throwing out the shirts and raising their voices saying they were not there for politics neither for GEJ. this partial act inevitably triggered sentiments which further provoked violence in the hall. this was exactly what interrupted the speech of the former NANS president Comrade Yinka Gbadebo, in few seconds the hall turns to a chaotic arena… . The unsuitable retaliation lasted for about 10 minutes, Because almost all the students were shouting and saying they are not there for that, with the help of a representative of GAU student affairs division and their society President calmed the students down. The NANS ASIAN President dressed in traditional atier with a hat took over the floor. In an attempt to address the crowd with an empty hall that the number of students did not exceed 30.
After that comrade Yinka took over and continues, at this junction the President of NSA of Near East University gave a diminutive speech where he spoke on behalf of his students demanding an apology from the NANS and also said that if not, they will disassociate themselves from the movement, and he also thanked the students for coming, after this demand from the NEU NSA President, an apology was also given from the representative of GAU students affairs.
After that the NANS ASIAN President called the newly appointed executives of NANS TURKISH ZONE on stage for their inauguration, some of the executives are:
Samson fadiya as the president
Emanuel as the secretary
Jubril Aregundande as the vice president
And among the senates are
Salim hamza ringim NSS EMU PRESIDENT as the senate president pioneer
Nura yunusa NEU NSA PRESIDENT as deputy senate president pioneer
Goodluck odili CIU NSA PRESIDENT as the clerk of the senate pioneer
Fred as the deputy parliamentary secretary
After the newly appointed NANS TURKISH ZONE excos came on stage for their oath of office, the NANS President gave an undersized speech where he said that he was vastly impressed by the score sheet of the Nigerians of the various universities he visited in Turkish zone and thereby encourages the students to keep it up, after that, comrade Tijjani gave them the oath as they repeated after him as:
‘’I (name of the executive) do solemly swear to obey, protect the constitution of the NANS and uphold upon it, I promise to defend the interest of Nigerian student at all time for no matter what reasons by my able and humble person, so help me God’’
After that he declared them the authorised leaders of NANS TURKISH ZONE, and as well offered a letter of endorsement from the national secretariat of NANS to the newly allotted excos, and also congratulates the new president, comrade Tijjani also thanks the security division of GAU for stabilising peace towards the period of the event and also extended his vote of thanks to the entire universities in north Cyprus and also promised the students a visit after the forth coming election with the minister of education to all the universities of northern Cyprus.
The last segment of the event was deliverance of awards to some of the invited guest and also to the president of the federal republic of Nigerian, and also NANS said that the sum of 5 million naira will b e given to the newly NANS TURKISH ZONE,
But just after the event we have heard from some of the newly excos like the NEU NSA President that he was disenchanted because a conformity made with him that his society will be given two post in the NANS Turkish zone but they ruined this agreement, and also some of the students of EMU, NEU and CIU complaints about the event calling it political event and they said no welfare at the occasion because they didn’t give any of their students neither the invited ones a bottle of water, but they didn’t forget to give them the GEJ shirts and mask.

RE : NSS A TOOTLESS BULLDOG
Our attention have been drawn to a video circulated on social media by Mr Kerry Kartoon on which he repeatedly called NSS a toothless bulldog, specialist in collecting awards who barely know their duties.
Whereas the Nigerian Student Society is not in the habit of replying people as the beauty of democracy vest in us the right speak up at any point in time. However we have decided to reply Mr Kartoon because of the damaging and misleading nature of the thoughtful but unnecessary video capable of damaging the relations between the school and NSS. The video is unnecessary because there are many channels of writing to NSS which he is aware and more disheartening because he is the next door neighbor of Mr Salim Hamza Ringim, the NSS president and could have discussed the issues with him before tagging the association a toothless bulldog.
PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION
The provisional registration was a means introduced by the former rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Oztoprak to help students who do not pay their tuition fees on or before registration. Such program was enjoyed by students from every country until the recent decision by the school management to stop it. Recipients of such privilege were given a certain time to make their payment. The new school administration led by Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam decided to revoke the provisional registration.
DID NSS TAKE THE DECISION HOOK LINE AND SINKER?
It is unfair to the leadership of NSS to conclude that NSS took the decision hook line and sinker without appreciating the efforts taken so far. Prior to the 09 March School resumption date, the NSS received information on the cancellation of the program and met with the vice rector on Student Affairs on Thursday 05 March to make our case that the decision will affect our quest for qualitative education negatively. We met with her on Friday even when most students were not aware of the cancellation and she promised to convey our message to the right authority. By Monday 09 March, the African presidents met with the Vice Rector on Promotional Affairs to lay our case. After series of negotiations the school agreed to extend the program to only student in final semester citing the illegality of the program and abuse by student as some of the reasons for the cancellation. We also consulted the leadership of the EMU student council in the struggle. Leaders of international students in their last meeting agreed to lead students to the Rectors office by Monday 16th March 2015.
We have always updated the students on the outcome of every meeting which mr Kartoon acknowledged. As a Political scientist Mr kartoon should have known that negotiation is the key to unlocking any unfavorable situation and as students in an academic environment, we must utilize all channels before we switch to any line of action (if necessary). It must be stated here that the provisional registration was a privilege introduced by the last administration which is not included in the school bye-laws unlike installment registration.
We believe that every student has the right to an inclusive and qualitative education which the school authority with their academic and social programs portrays. The school has always supported all our programs and we enjoy some privileges that others do not enjoy. For example our pharmacy students are on 50 percent scholarship which is not available for all nationalities. On what grounds is he talking about privileges? NSS was recently rated the best and active association in EMU, I do not wish to bore you with our achievements (because you don’t attend NSS activities) but be assured that we have advocated for Nigerians even in strenuous situations and succeeded without calling for protest.
We wish to tell all Nigerians that we will continue to fight for our rights and lobby for our privileges including provisional registration especially in this critical time of our economy. We appeal to all to remain law abiding while we continue to render our services to all Nigerians and by extension Africans.

8th MARCH,2015; WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL DAY; ''ELIMINATING THE GLASS CEILING.....''
8, MARCH ,2015; WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL DAY;ELIMINATING THE GLASS CEILING
Today, marks the celebration of the 20th anniversary in the struggle for Women empowerment. According to the United Nation's Secretary General,Banki Moon Women's right are human rights. In recent years, women have taken the front line in businesses and governance, but yet a huge fraction of women are still suffering under the adversity of domestic violence and Female Genital Mutilation. However, the new land mark known as the Beijing Women's Rights Declaration for Action, clearly defines its agenda for women empowerment in for the next 30 years, In so doing, a fraction of 50 percent of the hindered by the Glass Ceiling must be sustained, if the full global human development must prevail,
In order for full development to come through, the patriarchal dysfunction and other stereotypical biases must be flushed away from our system. Moreover, setting global balance, is highly dependent on giving women, who are deprived of proportional incentive for their agricultural dividends; the equal rights they deserve for their labor efforts.
Therefore, the full potential of 100 percent development, lies in setting the scales across gender rights. The panacea for full global development is embedded in Women empowerment.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
