The fatal attack on Russia's ambassador to Turkey, who was killed by a gunman on Monday, is "clearly a provocation" aimed at undermining both Russian-Turkish relations and the settling of the Syrian crisis, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"This murder is clearly a provocation aimed at undermining the improvement and normalization of Russian-Turkish relations, as well as undermining the peace process in Syria promoted by Russia, Turkey, Iran and other countries interested in settling the conflict in Syria," Putin said in a statement on Monday evening.
The "only response" to the attack that Moscow "should offer" is "stepping up the fight against terrorism," the president added.
"The killers will feel it," Putin said.

FG to Extend the Validity of International Passport to 10 years

• According to Muhammad Babandede, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, the FG is considering extending validity period for international passports from its current 5 to 10 years.

  Babandede said that Nigerians should expect an announcement on the policy changes in the coming months. “We have submitted a memo to the president and we believe we’ll get a positive response to that soon,” Mr. Babandede said. .

The Mannequin Challenge is a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a video is recorded, usually with the song "Black Beatles" by Rae Sremmurd playing in the background. The hashtag #MannequinChallenge was used for popular social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. It is believed that the phenomenon was started by students from Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida on October 26, 2016,to promote awareness of the disease Testicular Cancer and encourage donations to research. 

The mannequin challenge's roots have been traced back to Twitter user @thvtmelanin_, a high school student named Emili from Jacksonville, Florida. "One day I just went to the front of the class and stood there," Emili told Inverse via Twitter DM. "That's when my friend A'laynah said, 'Hey, you look like a mannequin.' Then my friend Bre'Onna and Jasmine joined and we started doing all these crazy poses. The initial posting has inspired works by other groups, especially professional athletes and sports teams that have posted increasingly complex and elaborate videos.

PDP Moves To Grant Aisha Buhari Membership Card

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, has expressed readiness to give membership card to the First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, following castigation she received over her recent interview on the British Broadcasting Service.

Jalo also said the statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari at a press conference in Germany has put him in the mould of America’s Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

He is saying that women should not have right to be politicians,” Jalo stated.

He said Mrs. Buhari has assumed the role of the opposition, adding that if the President said he doesn’t know her party, PDP is ready to give her a membership card.

“As far as I am concerned, she has done the work of an opposition, and if she decides to join us, she will have a good reception,” he added Jalo warned that should Buhari reject her advice, the consequence could be colossal, which might lead to his popularity being diminished as the nation is approaching the 2019 general elections.

Trump challenges Clinton to drug test before debate

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has accused rival Hillary Clinton of being "pumped up" during their last debate, saying they should both be tested for drugs before the next one.

He also suggested the presidential race was looking like a "rigged election".

The comments came in the wake of the publication of a recording in which he made obscene remarks, which sparked a string of sexual assault claims.

Polls suggest Mr Trump is losing ground in some of the key battleground states.

Speaking at a rally in New Hampshire, Mr Trump said Mrs Clinton had been "all pumped up" at the beginning of the last debate but could "barely reach her car" at the end.

Donald Trump's personal attacks on Hillary Clinton are on the increase.

He's nicknamed her Crooked Hillary, said he would put her in prison if he was elected president, described her as not having the stamina for the job and now he has accused her of taking some kind of drug.

His rally speeches have become increasingly agitated and he has stepped up his rhetoric aimed at casting doubt on the fairness of this election, saying it is being rigged by a corrupt media pushing false allegations and outright lies.

He may be trailing in the polls but he is managing to attract thousands of people to his rallies and raise funds.

Meanwhile the Clinton campaign has hit back against Mr Trump's contention that women accusing him of sexual assault are part of a scheme to help elect Mrs Clinton president.

Voting was to be encouraged and not "dismissed or undermined because a candidate is afraid he's going to lose", Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said.

Mr Mook said he expected a record turnout because voters could see through what he described as Mr Trump's "shameful attempts to undermine an election weeks before it happens".

Man arrested for cutting off his pregnant ex-girlfriend nipples

An American man, identified as Tony Ledbetter has been arrested for assaulting and cutting off his pregnant ex-girlfriend nipples after they got in an argument.
According to police reports, the 49 old visited the victim at her house on Tuesday, to address their relationship, but turned into a violent scene when the suspect allegedly punched the victim in the face, slammed her head onto the ground multiple times, and pinned her down by the throat, forcing a blanket into her mouth, before cutting off her nipples with scissors.
The woman, whose identity wasn’t revealed was said to have managed to escape being killed by his ex, who later called the Police to report the situation.

However, Tony Ledbetter has been charged with 8 counts Domestic Aggravated Assault.

Turkey frees detained Nigerian students

The Turkish Embassy in Nigeria has debunked claims that some Nigerian students schooling in Turkey are under custody in connection to the failed coup allegedly sponsored by a popular Islamic cleric, Fethuller Gullen.

The country’s ambassador to Nigeria, Hakan Cakil, made this known in a statement, yesterday. He said “regarding the news in the media about the detention of Nigerian students in Turkey, the embassy wishes to bring the following information to the attention of the esteemed Nigerian media.

There are no Nigerian students under custody in Turkey." He added that the four Nigerians who were deported on Friday, were not students, adding that they were arrested for entering the country illegally through the Turkish-Syrian border.

Following the recent public apology to fans by Peter Okoye and the announcement of reconciliation between himself and his twin brother Paul as well as their brother Jude who has managed them over the years; the Nigerian singing duo P-Square have shot a video for their new single ‘Bank Alert’.

Nigerian Senators, Reps earn N6.78 billion annually

At a time Nigerians are groaning under the yoke of recession, Members of the National Assembly (NASS) comprising the Senators and Members of House of Representatives have received a total of N6.78 billion as their official salaries and allowances in one year, investigation by Economic Confidential has revealed.

The report obtained by Economic intelligence magazine showed the ‘legitimate’ remuneration of the federal legislators in compliance to the statutory approval of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC. The remuneration packages include annual salaries, accommodation, vehicle maintenance and fuel, Personal Assistants, House maintenance, domestic staff, entertainment and utilities allowances. Others allowances are, constituency allowance, annual Leave, hardship allowance, wardrobe, newspapers and responsibility allowances.

A careful scrutiny of the report shows that each senator has annual salary of N2.02 million while a member of House of Representative receives N1.98 million as annual basic salary. The basic salary of the Senate President is N2.48 million while that of the Speaker of House of Rep is N2.47 million. The Deputy Senate President has N2.30 million as annual basic salary while his counterpart, Deputy Speaker earns N2.28 $million annually.

My Father Was Jailed For Not Sending Me To School – Atiku Abubakar .

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has revealed how his father was put in prison by local authorities in Adamawa State for refusing to send him to school.

Atiku who spoke in Lagos at the Ford Foundation Special Reunion to mark the 80th Anniversary of Ford Foundation said like many parents of his generation, his father needed his help in the farm and therefore attempted to stop him from getting formal education.

He said if the government had not forced his father, he would not have been allowed to go to school, adding that whatever modest achievements and contributions he has made, he owed to education.

Atiku who turns 70 this coming November said he could not have acquired an education if his parents were required to pay for it. He said, “Although he later relented, my father was put in prison by local authorities for refusing to send me to school. Like many parents of his generation, he needed my help in the farm. “My encounter with Peace Corps teachers in the 1960s had a profound impact on my life. It helped to instill in me the virtues of hard work, critical thinking, and commitment to excellence. .

The teachers encouraged us to develop a ‘can-do’ spirit and never to despair in order to bring out the best in us to enable us to succeed in life. “So, my encounter with the Peace Corps changed my life and education is responsible for the modest success I have achieved thus far. Because of the education I received which was paid for by the Northern Regional Government and local authorities, I was able to rise from a small village in Adamawa to the topmost level of the Nigeria Customs Service. .

“My exposure to education encouraged me to embrace savings and investment from very early in my career. Upon retirement, I went into business. And when my mentor, the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, invited some of us to join politics to help restore democracy to our country, I agreed, guided by that same “can-do”spirit. .

Sokoto withdraws students from foreign universities

Sokoto state government has given approval for the transfer of 39 of its citizens currently in various schools in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, back to Nigeria.

Spokesperson of Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, Imam Imam, said the move will enable the government save over N500 million based on existing foreign exchange.

The government said this signals change of priorities in the payment of scholarship to study abroad. “The transfer/relocation of the students was necessitated by the need to conserve funds and apply same to more critical areas in the education sector,” Mr. Tambuwal, said Friday in Sokoto when he received the report of the committee instituted to advise government on the issue.

He added that admissions have been secured for all the students in Nigerian schools, while arrangements have been made to ensure that none of them misses a grade level upon their return home. “As at the time we sent the children to Dubai to study last year, the state government was spending over 400 million Naira per annum to maintain them there. “The last administration had good intentions when it sent them to Dubai to further their studies, but the current financial situation of the state can no longer allow us to continue with this burden. “We explained to the parents and guardians of the students that as at today, Sokoto state government spends over 500 million Naira to maintain 17,000 of its citizens on scholarship in various schools in Nigeria.

Mark Zuckerberg makes first-ever visit to Nigeria-Africa

The Facebook founder visited Sub-Saharan Africa for the first time on Tuesday, touching down in Lagos, Nigeria. He met with local businesses and developers in an effort to understand how Facebook (FB, Tech30) could "better support tech development and entrepreneurship across Africa," the company said in a statement.

His visit included a trip to a Yaba, known as the Silicon Valley of Nigeria, where he toured a coding camp for kids and met with about 50 local startup founders and developers at CcHub, a local innovation center.

Zuckerberg said "There's so much energy and so much potential here. I just want to walk around and meet folks."

Zuckerberg express his happiness for the running of Hausa language as one of the operating languages on facebook, and said that more nigerian languages will soon be available.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Convention Venue Sealed

The PRO of the Nigerian Police Force, DCP Donald Amunah has defended the sealing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention venue in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, today. Speaking as a guest on Channels TV Sunrise Daily, he said;

"The Police is an institution established by law and we obey the court orders and rule of law. In an event of conflicting court orders, what do you do? We are neutral. The IG has been served court orders in Abuja and so we have to obey the orders. If this court order has to be obeyed, what do we do about the venue? We take control of the venue to avoid two worrying parties conflicting, to protect lives and properties.”

He emphasized the force had to be proactive to ensure that lives and properties are secured and later the issues can be later sorted out by the court itself. "In the interim, the Police will ensue that everyone is protected. So that people do not go to the venue of the convention and start fighting."

When asked to identify which court of order the Force was following, in order to clarify on assumptions that they could be following one side, Mr. Amunah said; "We are not following one side. If there is conflict, you stand in the middle and ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order. When two parties have court orders, they will both want to implement their own motives and decision. The Police will do the essential, that is, protect lives and properties. It's not about obeying court A or B."
