TURKISH CYPRIOT authorities are still investigating the cause of a large fire in the fenced off area of Varosha last Friday.
An administration official told local media Monday that the fire covered an area of one kilometer in length, and six hundred meters in width.
Fire crews have remained in the area and continue to drop water in a ‘cooling effort’ to stop the possibility of the fire re-igniting.
Turkish Cypriot authorities, along with fire crews and helicopters from the British bases spent six hours battling the blaze.
