An ambitious pipeline project linking reservoirs in Turkey to northern Cyprus to bring much needed drinking water to the island has entered the final stage.
The last piece of a underwater supply line has been fitted, to much public fanfare.
The Turkish Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Veysel Eroglu, the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources attended the ceremony on Friday.
The next stage is lowering the newly-fitted pipe into the sea, emptying the seawater and starting to supply fresh water.
Water is expected to reach occupied Nicosia by the end of October at the first stage. 52 percent of the supply line ashore has been fitted.
