Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides has said that the opening of more crossing points along the divide is a continuous and ongoing process.
"As regards statements and discussions on the opening of further crossing points, in addition to those already announced, the Government wishes to make clear that the opening of crossing points is a continuous and ongoing process”.
He recalls that this is noted in the joint statement by the leaders of the two communities on May 28, in which it is said that the competent Technical Committee (on crossing points) will further examine the issue of opening of other proposed crossing points.
Last week it was announced that work will begin to open the Deryneia crossing point on the Green Line in eastern Cyprus, but few details have been released.
A crossing at Lefka, overlooking Morphou Bay is also slated to open.
Possible future crossings are likely to be at Paphos Gate, in the ancient walled city of Nicosia and at Athienou-Piroi road,
