Unemployment rate dropped in April by 9% as the number of jobless decreased by 4.207 from April 2014, the Statistical Service of Cyprus has said.
The figures showed that the unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of April 2015, reached 42.551 persons.
Based on the seasonally adjusted data that shows the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for April 2015 decreased to 44.285 persons in comparison to 44.579 in the previous month, the Service said.
In comparison with April 2014 there was a decrease of 4.207 persons or 9.0%, mainly observed in the sectors of construction (1.109), trade (834), financial and insurance activities (755), manufacturing (741), public administration (676), education (323) and to newcomers in the labour market (939), it added.
